The works of Gülnihal Kalfa rediscovers the duality of similarity and otherness in life, death, feminine symbols and the symbols of soil. In her works we see light, darkness, death and life all together. She gives us a chance to observe chaos and birth, which also signifies Chaos and Gaia.

Somehow, Kalfa tells us a story of otherness and contradictions using images of nature and women. She scrutinizes how women live with contradictions such as being able to give birth but at the same time reality of death. For her, pain and pleasure exist at the same place. In her blue prints she shows the viewer reality of this pain and pleasure. She lets us to see how human body evolves and turns itself to death, as an inevitable end... Gülnihal Kalfa defines this situation as ‘disidentification’ and this can only appear in contradictions.
