Mixer is pleased to announce the debut solo exhibition of Alp İşmen, entitled "It was love…". This exhibition will take place from April 8th to May 13th at Mixer, and will showcase the artist's exploration of the concept of love and its relationship with human existence.

Drawing inspiration from Fuzuli's eponymous poem, the exhibition delves into the theme of mutual relationships and affection through a collection of works that employ various techniques, including drawings, sketching, and engraving. Rather than attempting to define love, the exhibition focuses on the mental processes that stem from the indescribable nature of this emotion, inviting viewers to explore the overlapping parallelisms between the artist's creative practice and the emotional experience of love.

As one of the most fundamental emotions in human history, love has been interpreted and expressed in various cultural and historical contexts. According to renowned thinkers such as Erich Fromm, Aristotle, Plato, Jean-Paul Sartre, and bell hooks, love is a complex emotion that enriches the meaning and value of life. Through his works, Alp İşmen presents a unique perspective on love, interpreting it through familiar limbs and hybrid figures that transcend gender and affiliation, evoking a sense of soul-relatedness.

By exploring the intangible aspects of love, Alp İşmen invites viewers to contemplate the nature of human existence and the significance of self-realization and creativity. For the artist, love represents the ultimate expression of human instinct and the means by which one can overcome the fear of post-mortal nothingness. Ultimately, the exhibition "It was love…" is a celebration of the multifaceted nature of love and its enduring impact on human experience. We cordially invite you to visit the exhibition "It was love…" at Mixer between April 8th and May 13th.
