In her works, Merve Dündar questions the relationship between the inner world and the outside, the boundaries and interactions between the individual self and the social self, and the concepts of self and reality. She focuses on how social norms and the outside world perceived by the senses construct the self and reality by shaping feelings and thoughts. Based on her own personal excavation, she strives to access common feelings and experiences. Focusing on the concept of gaze, the artist puts language/words at the center in her recent works. Although she works with various techniques and materials, paper and different forms of paper are her main materials for work. In her works, repetitions and the rhythm that is strived to be captured by repetition come to the fore. In a sense, this can be defined as an effort to catch the rhythm between the inner self and the outer self.
