PRINTED’22: iziziz is the seventh edition of the periodical exhibition series Printed which was initiated by Mixer to make contemporary art accessible and focuses on reproducible artworks. Held in collaboration with a number of curators, the first six exhibitions included a presentation of reproduced artworks by many artists from various disciplines ranging from traditional or digital printing techniques to photography and sculpture. The seventh exhibition was born of the idea to focus on workshops that enable the production of printing arts and artists that continue this production, in light of the responsibility to conduct in-depth research on the development of printing arts. With these thoughts in mind, we decided to focus on the Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University Engraving Studio at the exhibition PRINTED’22. PRINTED’22: iziziz is organized under the consultancy of the studio's current directors and lecturers Can Aytekin and Yasemin Nur Erkalır and offer a journey between the workshop’s past and present.

PRINTED’22: iziziz shared with the audience the history of the Engraving Studio whose story of foundation dates back to 1892, how it was reshaped under the management of Léopold Levy in 1936, and its history through the years via printed works, commentaries, documents, and photographs from the periods of Sabri Berkel, Fethi Kayaalp, Asım İlker, and Fevzi Tüfekçi, respectively. The exhibition displays various engraving works by artists from different generations at the Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University Engraving Studio.

The exhibition PRINTED’22: iziziz brings together engraving printing techniques obtained from various technical practices such as drypoint, aquatint, sugar finish tile, soft varnish, and viscosity using typography examples such as linoleum and wood printing in addition to copper and zinc plates.

Mixer Print Studio can be visited between March 26 and May 30 and the exhibition PRINTED’22: iziziz between April 15 and May 28 at Mixer on the ground and -1 floors of the Juma Building, from Tuesday to Saturday, from 11 am to 7 pm.
